First Lesson And Beyond

Mr. Dan will arrive at your house with all the materials needed for the first few lessons. After meeting and assessing the student through these sessions, he will give recommendations for relevant piano books and instrument maintenance. Philosophically, his studio emphasizes the performance, theory, and history of the classical repertoire. Practically, honed through years of instructing a wide range of class sizes, ages, and ability levels, his teaching provides clear and sequential direction. His careful instruction creates a comfortable and loving learning environment with specific objectives for musical growth. Students as young as four years old are encouraged to begin piano lessons. Younger students may be considered upon request.

Recitals

Students participate in two performances every year: the traditional, in-person spring recital, and the digital winter recital, a video-recorded album of students playing Christmas music and original compositions.

Testimonials

We have been working with Mr. Dan for almost 10 years across our four children, one with hearing loss and cochlear implants. Mr Dan strikes the right balance between pushing the kids to do their best and being playful and engaging with them so that they love piano lessons. We are so proud of the musicians our kids have become and owe Mr. Dan all the credit!

Dan works with our three children for piano and voice instruction. Dan is able to connect with our kids at their various ages and stages and tailor a lesson plan for progress for each one of them based on their individual interests. He is patience and kind and punctual. All three kids look forward to seeing Mr. Dan each week.

We honestly never imagined our son would stick with piano for this long – but here we are! There have been days when he had a full-on meltdown right before class, and I thought, “Well, I guess we’ll have to cancel today.” But somehow, as soon as Mr. Dan sits down with him at the piano, he calms right down – and before long, I can hear him laughing. It feels like magic! We’re so grateful to Mr. Dan for helping him truly enjoy piano and music.

We have been so pleased with our experience with Mr. Dan. My children have been taking piano from him for four years. He is patient, encouraging, and genuinely dedicated to helping them learn. Lessons are always engaging and tailored to our kids’ individual interest. He’s also very flexible with scheduling. We highly recommend Mr. Dan to anyone looking for a wonderful piano teacher!

Finding a piano teacher who connects with children is hard, but Mr. Dan is truly special. Our children have developed a love and excitement for music that goes beyond the piano. Mr. Dan always finds a way to keep them engaged and excited, even if it means taking apart the piano to show them how the strings work!

We are so glad to have met Mr. Dan. He has a wonderful way of making learning fun and keeping my son engaged and excited about music. My son started piano at four, which seems early, but Mr. Dan knows how to make piano age appropriate and enjoyable while helping him build a strong foundation. I especially like how he tailors the music to my son’s interest, allowing creativity while learning how to play.

Dan has been giving our two children music lessons for four years (primarily piano, with recent support for saxophone and clarinet to augment school band participation). In short, Dan is fantastic. He is reliable, a strong communicator, organized, and most importantly, a wonderful teacher that motivates our children to improve their skills and to genuinely love music. Our family is truly grateful for the meaningful role Dan has played in our lives, coming to our home each week, as our children continue to progress through elementary and middle school. Can’t recommend him highly enough!

We have had the pleasure of having Daniel Berry as our children’s piano teacher for the past five years, and we could not be happier with the experience. He comes to our home once a week and has been an incredibly patient, dedicated, and encouraging teacher. Over the years, he has helped our children develop not only their piano skills, but also confidence, discipline, and a genuine appreciation for music. He has a wonderful ability to work with each child at their own pace while still encouraging them to challenge themselves and reach their full potential. He has done an excellent job preparing our children for rehearsals and performances. His attention to detail and thoughtful preparation have helped them fell confident and comfortable performing in front of an audience. We truly appreciate his professionalism, patience, and commitment to our children’s musical education. After five years, we feel very fortunate to have found such a wonderful piano teacher and would highly recommend Daniel Berry to any family looking for an exceptional teacher for their children.

Dan has been our piano teacher for almost two years, and he’s been phenomenal with our three kids, ages 5 to 10. He has a real gift for making piano fun and engaging, even for our youngest – the kids look forward to their lessons. He’s also extremely reliable, which means so much when you’re juggling schedules for multiple kids. We couldn’t recommend him more highly!
